Puckett, Mountain Town, GA; and B. Kerns, Stanton, ND, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.1) on an unfiltered CCD frame (limiting mag 19.3) taken with the Puckett Observatory 0.35-m automated supernova patrol telescope on Sept. 30.27 UT. The new object is located at R.A. = 2h17m26s.87, Decl. = +14o34'36".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is 11".3 east and 12".5 south of the center of UGC 1761. SN 2003io was confirmed on unfiltered CCD frames taken by M. Marcus on Oct. 2.16, but it does not appear on unfiltered images taken by Puckett on 1999 Oct. 17 or 2000 Jan. 2 and 7 (limiting mag about 20.0).
