Ory, Delemont, Switzerland, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova on CCD images obtained with a 0.61-m reflector. The new object, which appeared at mag R = 15.7-15.9 on Dec. 25.817 UT and at R = 16.1 on Dec. 26.767, is located at R.A. = 3h45m05s.67, Decl. = +20o45'39".3 (equinox 2000.0; average of five positions), which is 8".6 east and 3".9 south of the center of UGC 2850. Nothing is visible at this location on a red Palomar Sky Survey plate from 1951 Dec. 1 or a U.K. Schmidt Telescope plate from 1991 Oct. 13.
