Dimai, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, on behalf of the CROSS program (cf. IAUC 7373), reports the discovery with the 0.5-m "Ullrich" telescope of an apparent supernova (mag 15.5) on two unfiltered CCD images taken on July 15.05 UT; confirming images taken on July 16.01 show the new object at mag 15.4. SN 2005cs is located at R.A. = 1h58m54s.79, Decl. = +36o40'34".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4" north of the nucleus of IC 178.
