Davis, and S. Sankarankutty, Australian National University (ANU), report that a spectrum (range 340-900 nm), obtained on Aug. 16.70 UT with the ANU 2.3-m telescope (+ Double-Beam Spectrograph), shows SN 2005dg (IAUC 8581) to be a type-Ic supernova a few days past maximum light. A spectrum of SN 2005di (CBET 198), obtained on Aug. 16.56, is similar to that of the type-Ia SN 1994ae a few days past maximum light.
