Simha, K. Denny, J. Prieto, R. Assef, D. DePoy, S. Dorsher, J. Marshall, I. H. Park, S. Poindexter, K. Schlesinger, R. Siverd, and L. Watson, Ohio State University, report that a spectrogram (range 390-730 nm) of SN 2005kc (cf. IAUC 8629), taken on Nov. 12.2 UT at the MDM 2.4-m telescope (+ CCDS), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova. The spectrum is consistent with that of SN 1992A one day before maximum light. The Si II absorption feature was found to have a blueshift of 11000 km/s after correcting for the recession velocity 4533 km/s of NGC 7311 from de Vaucoulerus et al. (1991, Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies, Springer Verlag; via NED).
