Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 18.3 +/- 0.3) on unfiltered CCD images taken on Feb. 19.776 and 20.774 UT with a 0.30-m reflector. The new object is located at R.A. = 2h57m46s.48, Decl. = -36o42'26".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 30" west and 38" north of the nucleus of ESO 356-22. The new object is absent from the Digitized Sky Survey in all bands (including limiting red mag 20.5). Additional approximate magnitudes from Monard: Jan. 31.757, [18.5; Feb. 28.80, 18.7 +/- 0.4 (mediocre conditions; stacked images); Mar. 5.735, 19.0 +/- 0.2.
