Madison and W. Li report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.1) on an unfiltered KAIT image taken on Mar. 20.37 UT. SN 2005ax is located at R.A. = 11h24m03s.46, Decl. = -12 17'29".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 51".3 east and 18".1 north of the nucleus of NGC 3663. S. Conzalez, Las Campanas Observatory, confirmed the new object at mag 16.5 on multiple images taken with the 1.0-m Swope telescope on Mar. 21.15. A KAIT image on Feb. 10.39 showed nothing at this positon (limiting mag about 18.5).
