Kirshner, and P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report that a spectrum (range 350-740 nm) of SN 2006bl (cf. CBET 462, IAUC 8698), obtained on Apr. 23.34 UT by J. Hernandez (University of Michigan) with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-II supernova around maximum light. The spectrum contains P-Cyg profiles of the Balmer series and helium. Adopting the NED recession velocity of 9708 km/s for the host galaxy (taken from "The Updated Zwicky Catalog", http://tdc-www.harvard.edu/uzc/), the maximum absorption in the H_alpha line is blueshifted by approximately 9000 km/s.
