Puckett report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.3) on CCD images taken with a 0.35-m reflector at Portal, AZ, on May 29.18 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 17.3 by A. Sehgal on May 30.22 with a 0.50-m reflector in Osoyoos, BC. SN 2006cq is located at R.A. = 13h24m25s.10, Decl. = +30o57'22".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4".9 west and 10".3 south of the center of IC 4239. Nothing is visible at this location on images taken by Puckett on Jan. 20 (limiting mag 19.5).
