SUPERNOVA 2006dc IN IC 4596
     S. Blondin, M. Modjaz, R. Kirshner, and P. Challis,
Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report that a spectrum
(range 350-740 nm) of SN 2006dc (cf. CBET 549), obtained on June 20.30
UT by M. Clakins with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+
FAST), shows this supernova to be a young type-IIn supernova.  The
spectrum consists of a blue continuum, and narrow emission lines of
the Balmer series, characteristic of type-IIn supernovae.
