Monard reports the discovery of an apparent supernova of mag 15.0-15.1 on an unfiltered CCD image taken on June 19.167 UT, and confirmed on June 20.155 at mag 14.5-14.6, with a 0.30-m Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector at the Bronberg Observatory near Pretoria, South Africa. SN 2006dd is located at R.A. = 3h22m41s.62, Decl. = -37o12'13".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 0".3 west and 16" north of the nucleus of NGC 1316. Nothing is visible at this location on the Digitized Sky Survey (limiting red mag 20.5) or on Monard's image from June 2.153 (limiting red mag 17.5). Filter photometry (all +/- 0.15 mag) by Monard of 2006dd, centered on June 20.158: B = 14.66, V = 14.41, R = 14.60, I = 14.30.
