Quimby, University of Texas, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.5) in unfiltered CCD images taken on July 22.41 and 24.41 UT using the 0.45-m ROTSE-IIIb telescope at the McDonald Observatory. SN 2006eb is located at R.A. = 1h13m41s.10, Decl. = -00o06'06".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is 10".5 west and 3".8 north of the center of UGC 771 (catalogued redshift of z = 0.017 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey). SN 2006eb was found by subtracting a co-addition of images taken between 2005 Aug. 22 and Dec. 3 (limiting mag about 19.0) from the 2006 July images.
