K. Gurugubelli, G. C. Anupama, and D. K. Sahu, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, report that a spectrum (range 360-910 nm) of 2006td (cf. CBET 787), obtained on Dec. 28.77 UT with the Indian Astronomical Observatory's 2-m Himalayan Chandra Telescope (+ HFOSC), shows it to be a normal type-Ia supernova. The spectrum is similar to that of SN 2003du about 10 days past B-band maximum light (Anupama et al. 2005, A.Ap. 429, 667). Identifying the narrow emission line seen at 666.7 nm with H_alpha from the host galaxy (KUG 0155+361), a recession velocity of 4760 km/s is estimated. Using this value, the blue-shifted velocity of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption is estimated as 10900 km/s.
