Dennefeld, Insitut d'Astrophysique de Paris; S. Benetti, A. Harutyunyan, I. Agnoletto, M. Turatto, and H. Navasardyan, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, INAF; J. P. Troncin, Observatoire de Haute-Provence (OHP); and A. Boselli, Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille, report that a spectrogram of 2007bk (cf. CBET 933), obtained on Apr. 22.05 UT with the OHP 1.93-m telescope (+ Carelec spectrograph; range 370-700 nm, resolution 0.6 nm), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova. Assuming a recession velocity of 9650 km/s (Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 2; via NED) for the host galaxy, the 'PASSparToo' comparison code (Harutyunyan et al. 2005, ASP Conf. Ser. 342, 258) provides the best fit with spectra of 1991T-like supernovae around 50 days after maximum light. This, together with the magnitude reported on CBET 933 for this supernova, would imply a very luminous event.
