Electronic Telegram No. 981 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2007cp IN IC 807 F. J. D. Serduke, L.-B. Desroches, M. Ganeshalingam, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 560-930 nm), obtained on June 14 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2007cp (CBET 980) is a type-Ia supernova, probably less than a week past maximum brightness. Removing the host-galaxy recession velocity of 10971 km/s (da Costa et al. 1998, A.J. 116, 1), the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption feature is found to be blueshifted by roughly 11000 km/s.
