Boles, Coddenham, England, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 19.6) on unfiltered CCD images taken on Sept. 14.995 and 16.051 UT with a 0.35-m reflector. The new object is located at R.A. = 0h01m53s.22, Decl. = +40o20'19".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is approximately 11".0 east and 7".3 north of the center of UGC 12917. Boles measures the position end figures of 2007iv to be 53s.25, 19".4 from a KAIT image taken at Lick Observatory on Sept. 16.379 by W. Li. Nothing is present at this position on Boles' images from 2007 Aug. 4 and 2006 Nov. 20 (limiting mag 19.5) or on a composite master image (limiting mag 21.0); also, 2007iv is not present on Digitized Sky Survey photographs from 1989 Aug. 30 (limiting red mag 20.5) and 1989 Oct. 4 (limiting blue mag 21.0).
