Pollas, ARTEMIS, Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur; and A. Klotz, Observatoire de Haute Provence, on behalf of the TAROT collaboration, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (R = 14.9 +/- 0.2) on Nov. 5.25 UT using images of the 0.25-m robotic telescope TAROT at La Silla. The new object is also present on images taken on Nov. 2.20 (R = 17.1 +/- 0.3), 3.22 (R = 16.1 +/- 0.3), and 4.20 (R = 15.5 +/- 0.2). SN 2007on is located at R.A. = 3h38m50s.9, Decl. = -35o34'30" (equinox 2000.0), which is 12" west and 68" north of the nucleus of NGC 1404. Nothing is visible at this position on Palomar Sky Survey images or on a TAROT image taken on Oct. 29.30 (limiting R mag 18.3).
