Olivares, University of Chile; and N. Morrell, Las Campanas Observatory, on behalf of the Carnegie Supernova Project and the Millenium Center for Supernova Studies, report that a spectrum (range 350-950 nm) of 2007uz (cf. CBET 1192), obtained on Jan. 4.92 UT with the European Southern Observatory 3.6-m telescope (+ EFOSC) at La Silla, shows this to be a type-Ia supernova several weeks past maximum light. Assuming for the host galaxy the NED recession velocity of 8917 km/s (da Costa et al. 1987, A.J. 93, 1338) the 'superfit' comparison tool (Howell et al. 2005, Ap.J. 634, 1190) provides excellent matches to the spectrum of 1998bu between 30 and 40 days after maximum light.
