Puckett, Ellijay, GA, U.S.A., report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.7) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.3) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal on Feb. 6.34 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 17.3 by T. Orff on Feb. 7.44 with the Portal 0.40-m reflector. SN 2008Y is located at R.A. = 11h19m30s.57, Decl. = +54o27'46".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 2".4 west and 6".9 north of the center of the apparent host galaxy. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on Jan. 20 (limiting mag 18.4).
