Gagliano, Cottonwood, AZ, U.S.A., report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.2) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.1) taken with a 0.60-m reflector at Ellijay on Feb. 7.26 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 17.2 on an image (limiting mag 19.4) taken by T. Orff on Feb. 8.17 with the Ellijay 0.60-m reflector. SN 2008Z is located at R.A. = 9h43m15s.25, Decl. = +37o17'03".9 (equinox 2000.0), which is 2".1 west and 6".9 south of the center of the apparent host galaxy. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on 2007 May 15 (limiting mag 19.0).
