Rafanelli, University of Padova; and S. Temporin, Institut de Recherches sur les lois Fondamentales de l'Univers, Direction des Sciences de la Matiere, Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique, Service d'Astrophysique, Saclay, report that a spectrogram of the possible nova reported on CBET 1272 was obtained at Asiago Observatory (Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova) on Mar. 2.80 UT with the 1.82-m telescope (+ AFOSC). The spectrum (range 360-782 nm; 2.4-nm resolution) shows bright Balmer emission lines with FWHM of about 1700 km/s. Fe II multiplets (42, 49, 74), Na I D, and possible O I 777.3-nm emissions are also detected, confirming that this object is a nova in the early decline phase and belongs to the "Fe II" class of the Tololo classification scheme (Williams 1992, A.J. 104, 725).
