Electronic Telegram No. 1374 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Treu, University of California, Santa Barbara; J. M. Silverman and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 330-1080 nm), obtained on May 14 UT with the Shane 3-m telescope at Lick Observatory, shows that 2008ch (CBET 1372) is a type-II supernova. The spectrum exhibits hydrogen Balmer lines having P-Cyg profiles. Removing the host-galaxy recession velocity of 4000 km/s, calculated from narrow emission lines, the minimum of the H-alpha absorption is blueshifted by about 4700 km/s.
