Steele, M. Ganeshalingam, R. Chornock, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 330-1080 nm), obtained on Aug. 8 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2008eq (CBET 1460) is a type-Ia supernova near maximum brightness. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that it is most similar to the normal type-Ia supernova 2003du at three days before maximum light. After removal of the host-galaxy recession velocity of 17039 km/s (Adelman-McCarthy et al. 2008, Ap.J. Suppl. 175, 297), the absorption minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm line is found to be blueshifted by 11500 km/s. SN 2008eo (CBET 1459) is a normal type-Ia supernova, near maximum brightness. After removal of the host-galaxy recession velocity of 4930 km/s (Huchra et al. 1999, Ap.J. Suppl. 121, 287), the absorption minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm line is found to be blueshifted by 11900 km/s. SNID indicates that 2008eo is most similar to the normal type-Ia supernova 2002er at one day before maximum light. SN 2008en (CBET 1459) is a type-IIn supernova with broad emission lines of the hydrogen Balmer series and He I. The FWHM of H-alpha is measured to be 3700 km/s. SN 2008ep (CBET 1459) is a normal type-Ia supernova, a week before maximum brightness. After removal of the host-galaxy recession velocity of 5995 km/s (Theureau et al. 1998, A.Ap. Suppl. 130, 333), the absorption minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm line is found to be blueshifted by 13000 km/s. SNID indicates that 2008ep is most similar to the normal type-Ia supernova 2003du at ten days before maximum light. SN 2008er (CBET 1461) is a normal type-Ia supernova a month past maximum brightness. SNID indicates that 2008er is most similar to the normal type-Ia supernova 2004S at 36.2 days past maximum light.
