Africa, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered CCD images taken at the Bronberg Observatory on Aug. 18.711 (at mag 17.2 +/- 0.4), 20.700 (at mag 17.4 +/- 0.3), and 21.699 UT (at mag 17.1 +/- 0.2). The new object is located at R.A. = 13h34m55s.27, Decl. = +13o43'48".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4" west and 43" south of the core of a galaxy that is in turn about 12' west- northwest of the galaxy NGC 5230. Nothing is visible at this position in Digitized Sky Survey images (limiting red mag mag 20.5) or on the previous image of this galaxy taken by Monard on July 29.717 (limiting mag 18.5).
