Electronic Telegram No. 1484 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Chornock, University of California, Berkeley; and L. Kewley, University of Hawaii, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 310-925 nm), obtained with LRIS on the Keck I 10-m telescope on Aug. 28.53 UT, reveals that 2008cx (CBET 1399) is a type-IIb supernova, approximately 3 months after explosion. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2008cx is most similar to the type-IIb supernova 1996cb at about 100 days after explosion.
