Claremont, Western Australia, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 15.5) on 20-s images obtained on Aug. 29.51 and Sept. 1.52 UT with a Celestron C9.25 Schmidt-Cassegrain f/10 reflector (+ 0.63x reducer + Artemis ART-285 CCD camera + Schuler V filter; image scale 2" per pixel). The new object is located at R.A. = 20h13m59s.96, Decl. = -44d21'07".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 39" east and 1" south of the nucleus of the galaxy PGC 64319 (ESO 284-32). Nothing is visible at this position on a U.K. Schmidt telescope image from 1995 May 31 (limiting red magnitude about 18).
