Jaeger, Stixendorf, Austria, reports his recovery of comet P/2001 R1 (LONEOS) on four CCD images obtained with a 0.20-m f/2.8 reflector. There was a small coma (< 20") and a tail extending 3' in p.a. 275 deg. One of the images was measured by W. Vollmann, with the following result: 2008 UT R.A. (2000) Decl. Mag. Aug. 31.08719 07 39 31.16 +25 12 23.9 16.5 Confirmatory measurements were made by G. Sostero, E. Guido and P. Camilleri on CCD frames obtained with a 0.30-m f/6.6 reflector at Skylive Observatory, Catania, Italy, on Sept. 1.1, the magnitude being given as from 16.5 to 16.9. The indicated correction to the prediction on MPC 54169 is Delta T = -0.42 day. On learning of Jaeger's recovery, M. Meyer, Limburg, Germany, detected and measured prediscovery positions on Palomar NEAT frames obtained on 2001 Aug. 9 and 14. The various measurements, improved orbital elements, residuals and an ephemeris are given on MPEC 2008-R09.
