Duszanowicz, Akersberga, Sweden, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 16.7) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 18.1) taken on Oct. 9.120 UT with a 32-cm f/3.1 reflector (+ Starlight Xpress MX716 CCD camera). The new object is located at R.A. = 9h44m31s.40, Decl. = +55o45'31".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is 31" west and 17" south of the center of the galaxy UGC 5201. Additional magnitudes for 2008gf, from Duszanowicz unless noted otherwise: 2007 Nov. 20.037, [18.7; 2008 Feb. 28.87, [19.0; Oct. 10.835, 16.7 (M. Nissinen and V.-P. Hentunen, Kangaslampi, Varkaus, Finland); 11.85-11.87, 17.1. Nissinen and Hentunen add that nothing is visible at the position of 2008gf on a Palomar Sky Survey F plate (limiting red mag 20.8).
