Electronic Telegram No. 1551 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Pritchet, A. Parker, S. Sadavoy, and D. Balam, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Victoria, report that a spectrogram (range 390-703 nm, resolution 0.3 nm) of 2008gm (cf. CBET 1549), obtained on Oct. 23.17 UT with the 1.82-m Plaskett Telescope of the National Research Council of Canada, shows it to be a type-Ib/c supernova about 1 month past maximum light. Comparison with a library of supernova spectra using the "superfit" matching program of Howell et al. (2005, Ap.J. 634, 1190) indicates that 2008gm is most similar to the peculiar type-Ib/c supernova 1997ef with a weighted average epoch of 30 days past maximum light. The redshift derived from the fit is consistent with the published redshift of NGC 7530 (v = 3517 km/s; Theureau et al. 2005, A.Ap. 430, 373).
