Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the discovery by Koichi Itagaki (Teppo-cho, Yamagata, Japan) of an apparent supernova (mag 16.2) on seven 15-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 19.0) taken around Nov. 5.83 UT using a 0.60-m f/5.7 reflector. The new object is located at R.A. = 11h25m03s.24, Decl. = -9o47'51".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 13" east and 7" south of the center of NGC 3672. Nothing is visible at this position on Itagaki's previous frames (most recently taken about three months ago; limiting magnitude 19.0) or on the Digitized Sky Survey. R. Martin, Perth Observatory, reports his apparently independent discovery of 2008gz at red mag roughly 15.5 in CCD images collected as part of the Perth Automated Supernova Search, using the 0.61-m Perth Lowell telescope on Nov. 7.841 and 8.838, providing position end figures 03s.28, 50".9 (uncertainty < 0".2), which is approximately 12" east and 8" south of the galaxy's center. The new object was not visible in a Perth image taken on June 19 (no limiting magnitude provided). The type-Ia supernova 2007bm also appeared in NGC 3672 (cf. CBETs 936, 939).
