Puckett, Ellijay, GA, U.S.A.; E. Briggs, Toronto, ON, Canada; and J. Newton, Portal, AZ, U.S.A., report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.2) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 18.5) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal on Nov. 20.14 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 17.1 on images (limiting mag 19.3) taken by T. Orff on Nov. 21.19 with a 0.60-m reflector at Ellijay. SN 2008hj is located at R.A. = 0h04m01s.91, Decl. = -11o10'07".5 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5".3 east and 19".9 north of the center of MCG -02-1-14. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on Oct. 26 (limiting mag 19.3).
