IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2008hr Rafael Ferrando, Segorbe, Spain, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 19.0) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 20.5) obtained on Nov. 23.232 and 24.108 UT with a 0.40-m f/10 Ritchey-Chretien telescope. The object was slightly brighter on his images taken on Nov. 28.115 (mag 18.6) and 30.090 (mag 18.5). The new object is located at R.A. = 9h18m52s.42 +/- 0s.02, Decl. = +18o57'20".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 9" east and 9" south of the center of PGC 1575852. Nothing is visible at this position on Digitized Sky Survey images to limiting mag 20 or 20.5 from 1988 (infrared) and 1997 (red). Ferrando has posted his discovery image of 2008hr at the following website URL: http://www.pla-de-arguines.com/SN001.jpg. W. Li, University of California at Berkeley, reports that a confirming image taken with the 0.8-m KAIT telescope at Lick Observatory on Nov. 29.53 shows the new object at mag 18.4 and at position end figures 52s.44, 20".4 (which is 9".8 east and 9".2 south of PGC 1575852), adding that there is nothing at this position on a red Digitized Sky Survey image (limiting mag 20.5).
