Electronic Telegram No. 1622 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2008ex IN UGC 11428 R. Arbour, South Wonston, Hants, U.K., reports that SN 2008ex (cf. CBETs 1470, 1472) has undergone a gradual but significant brightening for nearly four months after discovery, as indicated by the following unfiltered magnitudes (by Arbour with a 40-cm f/5 reflector unless noted otherwise): Aug. 23 UT, 17.0 (G. M. Hurst); Sept. 18, 17.9; 26.817, 17.9; Oct. 22, 17.0; 24.795, 16.9; Dec. 11.751, 16.5. Arbour notes that photometry is difficult because of the very crowded field; he also provides the following position for 2008ex: R.A. = 19h20m28s.64, Decl. = +30o49'41".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 1".3 east and 9".5 north of the center of the galaxy UGC 11428 = MCG +05-45-6. Nothing is visible at this position on the Palomar Sky Survey (via Digitized Sky Survey) plates of 1988 July 14 (blue) or 1987 June 21 (red).
