Antezana, L. Gonzalez, P. Gonzalez, P. Lopez, S. Silva, G. Folatelli, D. Iturra, R. Cartier, F. Forster, and S. Marchi, Universidad de Chile; B. Conuel, Wesleyan University; and D. Reichart, K. Ivarsen, A. Crain, D. Foster, M. Nysewander, and A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, on behalf of the CHASE project, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 17.6 +/- 0.3) on an R-band image taken on Jan. 13.08 UT with the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 4' telescope located at Cerro Tololo. The new object, which is also present in images taken on Jan. 9.10 (at mag approximately 17.7 +/- 0.3) and 14.06 (mag approximately 17.4 +/- 0.2), is located at R.A. = 5h55m21s.13 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -76o55'20".8 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 25".4 west and 8".0 south of the center of the galaxy IC 2160. Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on 2008 Dec. 29.13 and 2009 Jan. 5.13 (limiting mag 18.5).
