Folatelli, G. Pignata and M. Hamuy, on behalf of the Millennium Center for Supernova Studies and the Carnegie Supernova Project, report that they obtained spectra (range 513-930 nm) of 2009G (cf. CBET 1655) with the European Southern Observatory New Technology Telescope (+ EFOSC) on Jan. 9.1 UT. The spectrum of 2009G shows it to be a type-IIP supernova. With the aid of the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), 2009G is found to be similar to the type-IIP supernovae 1999em around 3 months past explosion. Corrigendum. The host galaxy for 2009G is IC 4444, not IC 4441 as reported on CBET 1655.
