Electronic Telegram No. 1852 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2009fk IN NGC 7364 N. Morrell and M. Phillips, on behalf of the Carnegie Supernova Project, report that they obtained a spectrum (range 340-910 nm) of 2009fk (cf. CBET 1823) on June 2.36 UT with the 6.5-m Magellan II (Clay) telescope (+ MagE), which reveals that this is a type-Ia supernova several weeks past maximum brightness. Comparison with a library of supernova spectra via the Supernova Identification code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows that 2009fk is very similar to supernova 1994D at an age of 54 days after maximum light.
