Electronic Telegram No. 1884 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2009hm IN NGC 7083 L. A. G. Monard, Bronberg Overvatory, Pretoria, South Africa, provides recalibrated (cf. CBET 1880) and additional photometry (unfiltered CCD magnitudes), as follows: July 17.862 UT, 15.43; 18.740, 15.32; 19.104, 15.24; 20.085, 15.23; 21.108, 15.2; 22.085, 15.1. N. Morrell, on behalf of the Carnegie Supernova Project, reports that inpection of a spectrum (range 360-680 nm) of SN 2009hm, obtained on July 24.42 UT with the Boller and Chivens spectrograph attached to the 2.5-m Las Campanas du Pont telescope, reveals that this is a type Ib supernova. Assuming for the host galaxy NGC 7083 the NED recession velocity of 3101 km/s (Koribalski et al. 2004, Astron. J. 128, 16), the supernova identification code (SNID, Blondin and Tonry 2007, Astrophys. J. 666, 1024) provides a very good match to the spectrum of SN 2005bf (cf. IAUC 8507, 8509, 8520-8522) at 6 days after maximum.
