Morrell, on behalf of the Carnegie Supernova Project, reports a spectroscopic observation (range 353-670 nm) of 2009hn (cf. CBET 1886) obtained on July 26.4 UT with the Las Campanas 2.5-m du Pont telescope (+ Boller and Chivens spectrograph), which shows this to be an evolved type-Ia supernova. Adopting for UGC 2005 the NED redshift of 6609 km/s (Mahdavi and Geller 2004, Ap.J. 607, 202), cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra via the Supernova Identification tool (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) provides a nearly perfect match to the spectrum of SN 1994ae (cf. IAUC 6105) at 64 days past maximum brightness, as well as very good matches with other normal type-Ia supernovae between one and two months after maximum light.
