SUPERNOVA 2009ic IN MCG -01-13-33
     M. Friis, N. Frydenlund, B. Gullberg, E. Ikanovich, A. Mette Frejsel,
J. Mortensen, and M. Strandet, Copenhagen University; and J. Fynbo and J.
Sollerman, Dark Cosmology Centre, Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen University,
report on spectroscopy of 2009ic (cf. CBET 1904) obtained with the Nordic
Optical Telescope (+ ALFOSC; range 360-820 nm, resolution 1.5 nm) on Aug.
18.22 UT.  Cross-corelation of the reduced spectrum of 2009ic with a library
of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (Blondin and
Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows it to be a type-Ia supernova about a month
past maximum.
