IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html NOVA IN M31: 2009-10b H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University; K. Ayani, Bisei Astronomical Observatory (BAO); and S. Honda and K. Kinugasa, Gunma Astronomical Observatory (GAO), report that low-resolution spectra of M31N 2009-10b (cf. CBETs 1967, 1971, 1973) were obtained on Oct. 15.6 UT with the BAO 1.01-m telescope and on Oct. 15.5 with the GAO 1.5-m telecsope. These show an almost-featureless blue continuum with narrow P-Cyg profiles of Balmer lines, which strongly resemble those of the fast nova V1280 Sco at two days before maximum light (Naito and Narusawa, IAUC 8803). Additional CCD magnitudes for 2009-10b: Oct. 12.940, R_c = 15.93 +/- 0.11 (M. Martignoni, Milano, Italy); 13.924, R_c = 15.28 +/- 0.07 (Martignoni); 14.923, R_c = 14.96 +/- 0.06 (Martignoni); 15.824, 14.9 (K. Itagaki, Yamagata, Japan; via Yamaoka; unfiltered); 16.500, 14.6 (Itagaki); 16.797, R_c = 14.69 +/- 0.05 (Martignoni).
