Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the discovery by Koichi Itagaki (Teppo-cho, Yamagata, Japan) of an apparent supernova (mag 16.0) in NGC 1832 on 15-s unfiltered CCD frames taken on Nov. 6.73 UT using a 0.60-m f/5.7 reflector (limiting magnitude 19.0). T. Yusa (Osaki, Miyagi-ken, Japan) confirmed the new object on seven 120-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting mag 18.5) taken remotely using a 0.25-m f/3.4 reflector near Mayhill, NM, U.S.A. on Nov. 7.4. K. Kadota (Ageo, Japan) also obtained sixteen 60-s unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 18.0) on Nov. 7.63 using a 0.25-m f/5 reflector. The available astrometry and magnitudes from these observers are tabulated below for this object, designated 2009kr, with its offsets as measured from the galaxy's center: 2009 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Yusa adds that there is nothing visible at the location of 2009kr on a DSS image from 1983 Nov. 6.667 (limiting mag 18.5; no bandpass provided). The type-Ib supernova 2004gq also appeared about 0'.5 northeast of the center of NGC 1832 (cf. IAUCs 8452, 8461).
