The new object is located at R.A. = 0h43m20s.28, Decl. = +40d58'30".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 405" east and 1058" south of the center of the galaxy M31. Nothing is visible at this position on the Digitized Sky Survey red and infrared plates. Additional magnitudes from Nishiyama and Kabashima for M31N 2010-01c: 2010 Jan. 24.433, [19.4; 26.438, 19.0 (limiting mag 19.5). K. Hornoch, Astronomical Institute, Ondrejov, Czech Republic, reports that he was able to confirm the presence of this apparent nova on a 180-s R-band CCD frame taken by P. Kubanek, N. Morales, J. L. Ortiz, J. Gorosabel, and M. Jelinek with the 1.23-m telescope at Calar Alto on Jan. 29.821 UT, yielding magnitude R = 16.8 +/- 0.1 and position end figures 20s.31, 30".1 (offset 407" east and 1058" south of the center of M31).
