NOVA OPHIUCHI 2010 No. 2
     H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University, forwards a report by K. Imamura and
K. Tanabe, Okayama University of Science (OSU), that a low-resolution
spectrum of the presumed nova announced on CBET 2176, obtained on Feb.
19.850 UT with the 0.28-m OUS telescope (+ DSS-7), shows a clear H_alpha
feature with P-Cyg profile, which suggests that the object is a genuine
classical nova.  An absorption minimum of the H-alpha feature is about 1000
km/s, blueshifted from the emission peak.  Their spectrum can be seen at

     Yamaoka also forwards a report from M. Fujii (Kurashiki, Okayama,
Japan), who obtained a low-resolution spectrum of this object on Feb. 19.86
UT with his 0.28-m telescope.  In addition to the Balmer lines with P-Cyg
profile, Fujii noticed a Fe II (37, 42, 49) emission feature, which
suggests that the variable is a "Fe II class" nova.  He measured that the
blueshift of the H-alpha absorption minimum from the emission peak is
about 700 km/s, and the equivalent width of Na I D lines is about 0.4 nm.

     E. Guido and G. Sostero write that their unfiltered CCD images taken
remotely through a 0.25-m f/3.4 reflector at the GRAS Observatory near
Mayhill, NM, U.S.A., on Feb. 20.5 UT shows the new object at magnitude
about 9.4 at the following precise position:  R.A. = 17h26m32s.15, Decl. =
-28d49'41".8 (equinox 2000.0; UCAC2 catalogue reference stars).  Their
animation showing a comparison between their image and the archival
