Electronic Telegram No. 2239 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Green; Room 209; Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbat@iau.org; cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html POSSIBLE SUPERNOVA PSN K1004-1 T. Kryachko, A. Prokopovich, and B. Satovskiy, Kazan State University (KSU), report the discovery of a possible supernova (mag approximately 19.5) on five unfiltered images (limiting mag 21.5) obtained on Mar. 19.75 UT and three on Mar. 20.74 UT with the Takahashi FRC-300 telescope (+ Apogee Alta U9000 CCD camera) at the KSU's Astrotel Observatory at Karachay-Cherkessia, Russia. The new object, designated PSN K1004-1, is located at R.A. = 12h39m48s.34 +/- 0".1, Decl. = +5d15'43".0 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 9" west and 10" north of the center of the galaxy 2MASX J12394896+0515331. Nothing is visible at this position on a Palomar Sky Survey image taken on 1991 Jan. 14 (limiting blue mag 21.5). B. Rizhyn reports confirmation of PSN K1004-1 at approximate unfiltered CCD magnitude 19.5 on six images obtained remotely on Mar. 21.35 with a 0.4-m f/9 Ritchey-Chretien telescope at the Tzec Maun Observatory in New Mexico, providing position end figures 48s.33, 43".1, adding that nothing is visible at this position on Digitized Sky Survey blue and red images (no dates or limiting magnitudes provided). The discovery image has been posted at website URL http://www.makhaon.com/_files/sn_march_20_74UT.gif.
