J. Garradd reports his discovery of a probable comet (discovery position below) in the course of the Siding Spring Survey with the 0.5-m Uppsala Schmidt. The images had an FWHM of 5".3, whereas that of nearby stars was 4".3, and there was a faint tail extending 10" to the north. After announcement of the discovery on the NEOCP, A. C. Gilmore and P. M. Kilmartin reported observations with the 1.0-m f/7.7 reflector at Mt. John Observatory on Apr. 17.4 UT showing the object as having cometary appearance, with R magnitude 18.7-19.1 and a short, bright tail in p.a. 355 deg. 2010 UT R.A. (2000) Decl. Mag.
