Electronic Telegram No. 2267 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Green; Room 209; Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbat@iau.org; cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html APPARENT NOVA IN M31: M31N 2010-04a Koichi Nishiyama (Kurume, Japan) and Fujio Kabashima (Miyaki, Japan) report the discovery of an apparent nova (mag 16.5) in M31 on seven 40-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 17.8) taken around Apr. 29.815 UT using a Meade 200R 0.40-m f/9.8 reflector (+ SBIG STL1001E camera). The new object, which was confirmed at mag 17.1 on five 60-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting mag 18.7) taken on May 1.809, is located at R.A. = 0h42m44s.75 +/- 0s.01, Decl. = +41d15'11".9 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5" east and 57" south of the center of the galaxy M31. Nothing is visible at this position on their past frames taken on 2010 Feb. 23.432 UT (limiting mag 19.0) and Feb. 28.426 (limiting mag 18.6) or on a Digitized Sky Survey plate from 1986 Nov. 27 (limiting red mag 18.7).
