Electronic Telegram No. 2384 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Green; Room 209; Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbat@iau.org; cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2010gi IN IC 4660 M. Yamanaka, Hiroshima University; A. Arai, Kyoto Sangyo University; and K. Sakimoto, T. Okushima, K. S. Kawabata, Hiroshima University, report that they obtained low-resolution optical spectra of 2010gi (cf. CBET 2376) on July 19.7 UT at Higashi-Hiroshima Observatory (resolution, R, of 400), Hiroshima University, and at Koyama Astronomical Observatory (R = 500), Kyoto Sangyo University. The spectra have broad absorption features at 540-580 and 590-620 nm, showing some resemblance to that of the type-IIb supernova 1993J at a week before maximum light. If it is assumed that the features are He I 587.9-nm and H-alpha, the blue-shifts of their line centers correspond to about -14000 km/s and -23000 km/s, respectively.
