Electronic Telegram No. 2430 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Harutyunyan, Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG); and S. Benetti and F. Bufano, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, report that a spectrum of the possible supernova near NGC 1120 announced on CBET 2421, obtained on Aug. 29.13 UT with the 3.5-m TNG reflector (+ DOLORES; range 350-800 nm, resolution 1.1 nm), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova several days after maximum light. The best fits to this spectrum found by GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383; publicly available at https://gelato.tng.iac.es) are with spectra of type-Ia supernovae at 7-10 days after maximum light, adopting a recession velocity of 8518 km/s for NGC 1120 (Huchra et al. 1993, A.J. 105, 1637; via NED). The expansion velocity deduced from the Si II 635.5-nm absorption is then about 10000 km/s.
