Electronic Telegram No. 2522 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Green; Hoffman Lab 209; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu (alternate cbat@iau.org) URL http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network SUPERNOVA 2010jc IN NGC 1033 D. Milisavljevic and R. Fesen, Dartmouth College, report that a low-dispersion spectrum (range 450-750 nm), taken on Oct. 31 UT with the 2.4-m Hiltner telescope (+ MKIII) at MDM Observatory following posting on the Central Bureau's unconfirmed-objects webpage, shows that 2010jc (cf. CBET 2521) is a type-IIP supernova just after maximum light. Comparison with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" tool (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J., 666, 1024) provides good matches with type-IIP events such as SN 2005cs at three days after maximum.
