Rich, Hampden, ME, U.S.A., reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.0) on unfiltered CCD frames taken with a 0.41-m reflector on Nov. 3.12 UT, with a confirming image obtained on Nov. 4.02 (yielding the transient's magnitude as about 16.9). The new object is located at R.A. = 2h06m52s.23, Decl. = +44o34'17".5 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 7".8 east and 5".5 south of the center of NGC 812. Nothing is visible at this location on a CCD frame taken by Rich on Sept. 12.23 (limiting mag about 19.0) or on Palomar Digital Sky Survey images from 1989 Sept. 29 (limiting red mag about 20.5) and 1992 Dec. 22 (limiting blue mag about 21.0).
